NEOP/SNAP Education (Nutrition Education and Obesity Prevention/Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education) – Is a federally funded program whose goal is to empower and enable participants (youth and adults) to select healthy foods and beverages and increase physical activity through nutrition education.  Targeting low-income families, our program offers free workshops, classes and food demonstrations in the North Inland San Diego County area.

Rethink Your Drink props and spa water featured

MyPlate- Teaches participants how to make healthy food choices using MyPlate and informs them on the food groups and recommended amounts.  Participants engage in discussion about foods to increase and foods to reduce and will practice “building a healthy plate.”  Using MyPlate, they discuss ways to include more fruits and vegetables into their diets and are encouraged to be physically active.

Food Distributions

In collaboration with the Smart Food Foundation and Interfaith Community Services, the food distribution was the only one in SD County that included an NEOP nutrition education and cooking demonstration.  We have also done cooking demos on some Feeding America San Diego events in the North County region.
