The Girls Rock Program is a gender specific program designed to provide prevention and intervention services for middle school and high school girls through empowerment. The program provides services for girls showing signs of gang association or are having behavioral issues that could lead to the involvement with the juvenile justice system. Program services include weekly group sessions, enrichment activites, and case management.
Group Sessions (the circle)
Girls Rock uses an evidence based curriculum created by One Circle Foundation. Girls meet weekly on campus to participate in group sessions. The group is facilitated by a female Case Manager and a female Escondido Police Officer. Each week, the girls participate in discussions and activities geared towards empowering them to make better choices.
Girls participate in enrichment activities that encourage them to utilize skills learned from group in their everyday lives. Girls will learn to take positive risks and gain leadership skills. Past field trips include: Cal State San Marcos, rock climbing, hiking, art activities, fishing, The Wave Water Park, beach, Safari Park, and many more!
Girls receive case management throughout the program. Each girl has their own individual service plan and sets academic goals with the case manager. In completion of program, girls receive a certificate of completion signed by the Escondido Chief of Police, COMPACT’s Executive Director and COMPACT’s Manager of Violence Prevention and Intervention Services.
